Grammy award-winning artist Megan Thee Stallion is officially part of the MCU thanks to a cameo in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law episode 3.
Warning: This post contains SPOILERS for She-Hulk episode 3!The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s star power just got a lot stronger thanks to Megan Thee Stallion’s She-Hulk: Attorney At Law cameo. Marvel’s Disney+ show is taking full advantage of its format to include special guest stars and cameos for each episode. The appearances of Smart Hulk, The Incredible Hulk‘s Abomination, and Wong were expected to come as part of Jennifer Walters’ journey. She-Hulk episode 3 delivers a major surprise by having Grammy award-winning artist Megan Thee Stallion join the MCU.
Megan Thee Stallion’s She-Hulk cameo plays a central role in episode 3’s story, as GLK&H takes on a case where a rival lawyer believes he dated the rapper. In actuality, his date was a shape-shifting Light Elf who lived in New Asgard. Megan Thee Stallion’s MCU debut came through footage showing the shape-shifter at work, but She-Hulk episode 3 eventually showed that appeared at the court hearing too. The two scenes were not enough of the artist, as She-Hulk‘s post-credits scene shows She-Hulk and Megan Thee Stallion twerking and having fun after she becomes Jennifer Walters’ latest client.
She-Hulk‘s Megan Thee Stallion cameo sees the artist play a fictional version of herself. The MCU does not fully reveal what her life is like in this new reality, but Jennifer Walters is a big fan of Megan Thee Stallion’s music, confirming that she is still wildly successful and a popular part of the music industry. Thanks to the She-Hulk cameo, Megan Thee Stallion becomes the latest real-life individual to play a version of themselves in the MCU, joining Jim Cramer in Iron Man, Elon Musk in Iron Man 2, Joan Rivers in Iron Man 3, and Sarah Haines in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
Why Megan Thee Stallion Plays Herself In The MCU
Megan Thee Stallion’s She-Hulk cameo is part of the artist’s desire to do more acting. She has played small roles in shows like Good Girls in the past, but She-Hulk is the first time she has played a version of herself. It does make for a very fun cameo thanks to her interactions with Jennifer Walters. Still, it is somewhat surprising that Megan Thee Stallion did not play a character from Marvel’s comics. Such a role may have meant she could return for future projects, but She-Hulk‘s cameo works best if she plays herself.
It is unclear if Megan Thee Stallion will play herself again in the MCU after She-Hulk episode 3. There is no specific story reason for her to return, but that also means there is nothing stopping Marvel from bringing her back. The most likely outcome for future appearances is Megan Thee Stallion returning in She-Hulk: Attorney At Law in some form. Now that she is a client of She-Hulk’s (who Jen will kill for), another Megan Thee Stallion MCU cameo could come.
New episodes of She-Hulk: Attorney At Law release on Thursdays on Disney+.
