Exclusive: MCU star, Xochitl Gomez, wants her character, America Chavez, to meet more Marvel characters, including Loki, Kang, and the Young Avengers.
MCU star, Xochitl Gomez, wants her character, America Chavez, to meet more Marvel characters, including Loki (Tom Hiddleston), Kang (Jonathan Majors), and the Young Avengers. Gomez made her debut as Chavez in the film Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness this past spring. In the film, she is a young girl with the power to travel through the multiverse. She quickly catches the attention of the Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), who seeks to utilize Chavez’s powers to be reunited with the children she conjured during her time in Westview.
Chavez and Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) end up on a dizzying journey through the multiverse as they flee from the Scarlett Witch and Chavez learns to control her powers. So far, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is Gomez’s only appearance as Chavez. However, the film left off with her at Kamar-taj, being trained in the mystic arts. Additionally, the next chapter of the MCU is titled The Multiverse Saga, so it seems fitting that a girl with the power to travel the multiverse would show up in Marvel’s future. While Chavez’s exact future is still unknown, Gomez has a few ideas of what she would like to see happen.
During an interview with Screen Rant, Gomez was asked what MCU characters she would like Chavez to meet. Her first two choices were Kang and Loki. Meanwhile, she also wants Chavez to meet the Young Avengers, which is something the fans, as well as herself, really want to see happen. Check out her statement below:
Of course, Kang, I think there’s obviously some stuff there, and Loki. But also, I think the Young Avengers. I know the fans really want to see that, and so do I!
All of Gomez’s choices certainly would have potential in the MCU. Just as Gomez states, there is already some connection with Kang and Chavez, in particular. Viewers saw one variant of Kang, “He Who Remains,” in Loki. However, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, will be debuting a different variant of him called Kang the Conqueror. This variant is a time-traveling, reality-hopping entity who seeks to conquer the multiverse. In the end, Chavez’s unique powers of multiversal travel may be just what is needed to stop Kang. Meanwhile, with the MCU also debuting younger heroes at a high rate, many are anticipating the formation of the Young Avengers, which Chavez would fit right into.
Ultimately, the future of Chavez in the MCU is unknown, but her powers are so unique that there are endless possibilities. In reality, she could be paired up with almost any Marvel character or team, whether it’s the Young Avengers, Loki, or even a new iteration of the Thunderbolts. Her powers are something that makes her coveted after, but that also makes her dangerous for whatever beings wish to use the opening of a new multiverse in the MCU to their advantage. With the MCU having the multiverse become a major focal point of the majority of their storylines, Chavez truly could fit in anywhere and meet any number of MCU characters she desires.
