Love Island USA host Ariana Madix just opened up about why she’s been on the verge of tears over “female rage.”
While being interviewed by Variety, Ariana was asked about the time she talked on air about women not being allowed to express rage, unlike men. The Vanderpump Rules alum answered by saying she brought up that topic because she wanted to “show myself authentically and really be myself.” She added that “women are conditioned not to show our rage,” even to the point where women will criticize other women over it.
Ariana admitted that she has found herself to be “very inspired by female rage,” which is something she learned about herself in recent years as she dealt with the aftermath of Scandoval. “My rage or my anger, whatever it is, is a very powerful motivator for me,” she explained. Rage inspires her so much that she feels like she “might cry” when she sees other women expressing themselves in that way.
The Love Island USA host doesn’t want women to be afraid of rage and anger; instead, they should embrace it. After all, this emotion is something she’s been able to “harness like a dragon,” and it’s allowed her so many opportunities “if you really let it course through you.” In other words, take that rage and channel it into something powerful in your life. That’s exactly what Ariana did after Scandoval. Now she’s hosting Love Island USA, which allows her to empower the contestants, particularly the women, to defend themselves on the show.
Love Island USA season 7 streams daily (except Wednesdays) at 9 p.m. EDT on Peacock.
