The Bachelorette’s Rachel Recchia sent drag racer Jordan Vandergriff home during their one-on-one date. Now he thanks her for the experience.
Although Rachel Recchia sent him home after their first one-on-one date on The Bachelorette, drag racer Jordan Vandergriff thanked her for the experience. Jordan, a 27-year-old race car driver from Alpharetta, Georgia, and Rachel, a 26-year-old pilot and flight instructor from Clermont, Florida, spent some time quality together on the first night of the show. Jordan brought the bright red race car that he drives in order to make a connection with Rachel about their careers and how they both had to learn to operate complicated machines. He said that hopefully one day she can show him how to fly a plane, and he can show her how to drive the race car. Rachel was impressed by Jordan’s effort, and her feelings only intensified when he told her, “I came here for you.” Rachel is sharing the lead role of The Bachelorette with Gabby Windey, so Jordan’s statement that he was there for Rachel made her very happy. Although she was disappointed that they did not share a kiss, Jordan had definitely caught her attention.
In episode 2 of The Bachelorette, Rachel chose Jordan for the first one-on-one date of the season. They flew in a plane in order to experience zero gravity. Although Jordan was terrified because he is afraid of heights, he said that Rachel helped to calm him. They shared a kiss as they floated in the air. In his confessional, Jordan said that he was grateful that Rachel saw something in him and that “the beginning of forever could start today.” At dinner, Jordan opened up to Rachel about his family and how his parents’ divorce affected him. Although Rachel listened attentively, she began to feel that she did not have any chemistry with Jordan. Even though she felt terrible about it, she eventually told him that she could not give him a rose and sent him home, ending their relationship.
In a post on Instagram, Jordan wrote a message to Rachel thanking her for his experience on The Bachelorette. He included two memories from their one-on-one date: a video of them floating in zero gravity while holding hands and a photograph of them smiling at dinner. He wrote,“@pilot.rachel, Thank you. Thank you for giving us a chance. Thank you for following your heart. Thank you for being a beautiful person, inside and out.”
Jordan went on to say, “I am eternally grateful to have had the opportunity to get to know you and play a little part in your journey to find your forever. I wish you nothing but happiness and LOVE! As for me, this journey we call life.. continues. -Jordan V.” He also included the hashtag “#RespectForRachel,” a gesture that proved what a gentleman he truly is.
Although Rachel and Jordan did not work out as a couple on The Bachelorette, his gratitude and respect for her and their time together may indicate that she has found a supportive friend in him. His reaction to his elimination from the show illustrated that he is a gracious and humble man. Jordan deserves to find love and happiness as he continues on his own journey.
The Bachelorette airs Mondays at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.
