Players can earn the Controlled Burn Triumph in Destiny 2’s season of the Haunted by defeating both Tlazet, Fed to Beasts, and Uaoc, Spine Breaker.
Controlled Burn is a new Triumph in Destiny 2‘s Season of the Haunted, which requires the elimination of two elite Nightmares. Guardians are hunting Tlazet, Fed to Beasts, and Uaoc, Spine Breaker. The in-game description for the Controlled Burn Triumph reads, “Defeat each of the roaming Nightmare targets within the Pleasure Gardens.” Unfortunately, this means both powerful enemies spawn randomly aboard the Derelict Leviathan.
Controlled Burn is a quarter of the Shadow’s Return Triumph and needed to earn the Reaper title. Season of the Haunted has brought many challenges, most involving the defeat of elite Nightmares. Players that wish to earn the achievement must make their way to the Pleasure Gardens. This area can be found by traveling north from the Castellum Landing Zone and turning right at the third unlit brazier. Following the path around the middle area will lead to the Pleasure Gardens.
Unlike in Destiny 2‘s Sporest of Beasts Triumph, Tlazet, Fed to Beasts, and Uaoc, Spine Breaker both appear out in the open, instead of inside a Haunted Alcove. Guardians should keep an eye on the left of their screen because the only indication of their spawn is the message, “A High-Value Target is nearby.” There is a myriad of other enemies that can appear instead of the targets. To make matters worse, only one of the desired elite Nightmares can spawn at a time, meaning this Triumph could take quite some time to complete. While tedious, Guardians will need to defeat enemies in the Pleasure Gardens and hope that the right targets appear.
Earning the Controlled Burn Triumph in Destiny 2
The Nightmare of Uaoc, Spine Breaker is a Cabal Colossus that can spawn on the left side of the map, near where the Orb of Dread is deposited. Tlazet, Fed to Beasts is a Psion that appears on the eastern side, near the Opulent Chest in Destiny 2. Both elite enemies have a tremendous amount of health but are relatively easy to defeat. Other Guardians in the area will be able to help, and picking up Unstable Essence from lesser Nightmares will grant a damage boost. Waiting for the two targets to spawn is the hardest part of this mission.
Once the Nightmares of both Uaoc and Tlazet have been defeated, Guardians will earn the Controlled Burn Triumph. Most likely, this is also the final part of the Shadow’s Return Triumph left for players. Marking off these two achievements brings Guardians that much closer to earning the coveted Reaper title.
Destiny 2 is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Google Stadia platforms.
