Khloé Kardashian has given Tristan Thompson more chances than he deserved, but after his last baby scandal, The Kardashians star finally put her own mental well-being first. Fans found out about Tristan’s paternity scandal in December, and during the season 1 finale of The Kardashians, fans got to watch the famous family hear the news for the first time. Khloé took the news very hard, admitting to her sister Kendall Jenner that she fainted from all the anxiety and heavy emotions she was dealing with. She was especially upset because earlier in the season, it was clear she and Tristan were close to getting back together.
During The Kardashians season 2 premiere, Khloé addressed the news that broke in July that she was having a second baby with Tristan via surrogate. According to Khloé, Tristan had been encouraging her to go through with the plan before the news broke that he had gotten personal trainer Maralee Nichols pregnant. She had told her family about the second baby while they were filming for the season 1 finale, but it wasn’t included in the episode to respect her privacy. However, the rest of the second season takes place six months before the season premiere was filmed.
After taking Tristan back, despite his many cheating scandals, The Kardashians star finally took initiative in bettering her mental health. The scandal was the last straw for Khloé, and no matter how much she wanted things to work between her and Tristan, especially for the sake of their children, she knew she was only hurting herself if she went back to him. She admitted in several interviews while promoting her Hulu reality series that she and Tristan were done for good this time. There have even been reports that she’s ready to move on to someone new if she met the right person. However, other reports have said Khloé is staying single for a while and focusing on herself and her own happiness. In the second episode of The Kardashians season 2, Kendall inspired her sister to go see Dr. Daniel Amen, a popular celebrity doctor known for working with stars like Miley Cyrus.
Daniel has spoken about his process of scanning the brain in many interviews and has written several books about the brain, including The End of Mental Illness and You, Happier. Kendall received a brain scan from Daniel, which revealed a lot of activity in her brain that causes her to experience a lot of anxiety. Khloé’s scan revealed that she has a lot of trauma, both physical and emotional. The star admitted she’s injured her head many times, including in a car accident when she flew through the windshield. The emotional trauma was linked to her father, Robert Kardashian, passing away when she was only 19 years old, and her traumatic marriage to NBA player Lamar Odom, who struggled with drug addiction. Speaking to Daniel and doing the brain scan was very beneficial to Khloé’s mental health, and it was the first time she truly committed to putting herself first and healing instead of trying to make things work with someone who kept hurting her.
The Kar-Jenner family and fans have watched Khloé put herself second for years. She’s always been the most guarded family member and has had the toughest time processing her emotions. She’s also way too willing to put others before herself. Luckily, Tristan’s latest mistake inspired her to finally take action to better her mental health, and Kendall knew exactly how to help. Hopefully, The Kardashians star stays on track with putting herself first this time.
The Kardashians streams Thursdays on Hulu.
