Thanks to the events of Titans season 4, Garfield Logan’s Beast Boy has a real chance at becoming the team’s strongest hero as the series continues.
Warning! SPOILERS for Titans season 4, episode 6Thanks to Titans season 4, Garfield Logan’s Beast Boy has a real shot at becoming the most powerful member of the team. Played by Ryan Potter, Garfield has struggled throughout most of the series to control his ability to turn into animals (beyond turning into a tiger). Now, Titans season 4 has been greatly evolving Beast Boy while teasing that he’ll become even more powerful once he becomes fully connected to the mysterious force known as The Red.
As seen in the first half of Titans season 4, Beast Boy is exploring his connection to The Red, which has been warning him of dangers to come. Gar has begun to have new transformations while also taking less conventional and very surprising forms. Compared to the struggles his teammates are having, it does seem as though Beast Boy could become the Titans’ true powerhouse.
Beast Boy’s Powers Can Make Him The Strongest Titan
Beast Boy is finally transforming into other animals besides a tiger, a frequent complaint from fans of earlier seasons. Although Gar turned into a snake in season 2 and a bat in the penultimate episode of season 3, both transformations were brief and required great difficulty on Beast Boy’s part. Now, Gar’s transformations have started to become easier, evidenced by his turning into a giant green gorilla twice, once when he trashed a room in S.T.A.R Labs and the second when the Titans attack the Church of Blood in season 4’s mid-season finale.
However, Beast Boy also transformed himself into a virus to help purge Connor Kent’s Superboy of the supernatural corruption he was cursed with by Mother Mayhem. While it took an extended period of time for Gar to reconstitute himself and required great risk where he could have died, becoming such a unique organism is certainly a major power upgrade for Beast Boy. It also sets quite a precedent in terms of Gar’s future transformations.
Titans Season 4’s Cliffhanger Means Beast Boy Will Get Stronger
Following Titans’ mid-season finale for season 4, Gar is being set up to learn more about his connection to The Red thanks to his visions of the future. While his fellow Titans were potentially destroyed/banished by Brother Blood, Beast Boy trusted in his earlier premonitions and was sent to The Red. The Red is a powerful force in DC Comics centered around animals and mirrors The Green with plant life. Just like The Green can be tapped into by those such as Swamp Thing and Poison Ivy, heroes like Animal Man and Vixen were confirmed to have connections to The Red just like Gar in episode 6.
The more Beast Boy learns about The Red, the more likely it is that he’ll continue to grow and gain better control over his powers. Continuing to have visions of the future is certainly helpful too. While most of the other Titans are dealing with power fluctuations and status quo changes as well, Beast Boy seems to be on the best track to evolve and gain control over his growing abilities best, potentially making him the strongest member of the team as Titans season 4 continues.
