Disney is making a land grab for 2027 movie release dates.
The studio announced a long list of official changes to its film release calendar on Friday, including the addition of 11 untitled projects for 2027. The only two features previously on the company’s calendar for that year were Avengers: Secret Wars on May 27, 2027, and an untitled Star Wars movie for Dec. 17, 2027.
Among the projects with newly added release dates are an untitled Marvel film on July 23, 2027, and one on Nov. 5, 2027. Additionally, Disney has added an untitled Pixar feature for June 18, 2027, and an untitled Disney Animation film for Nov. 24, 2027.
Also joining the calendar are untitled Disney films for Aug. 8, 2025; Sept. 12, 2025; Feb. 12, 2027; March 5, 2027; April 2, 2027; May 28, 2027; Aug. 6, 2027; Sept. 17, 2027; and Oct. 8, 2027.
Other newly announced tweaks for the company’s forthcoming slate include Searchlight’s A Real Pain, in which Jesse Eisenberg directs and also stars alongside Kieran Culkin, moving to Nov. 1, 2024, after previously having been dated for Oct. 18. Additionally, an untitled Disney movie moves up a week to Aug. 7, 2026, and another one moves up a week to Sept. 11, 2026.
Taken off the official calendar are an untitled Disney movie previously scheduled for March 7, 2025, and an untitled Marvel film that had been set for July 24, 2026.
The company also officially updated the titles for Fantastic Four: The First Steps, previously announced to hit theaters July 25, 2025, and Avengers: Doomsday, due for release May 1, 2026. The titles for both projects were announced during Marvel’s high-profile presentation at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday.
Disney has been in quite the groove of late with its 2024 theatrical successes. Deadpool & Wolverine has gotten off to a blistering start at the box office after last weekend’s opening gave it the sixth-biggest first frame of all time. Meanwhile, Inside Out 2 leapfrogged Frozen 2 last month to be crowned the highest-grossing animated film ever at the global box office, while Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes has had a strong run as well.
