Chris Evans is reportedly in talks to team up with Emily Blunt in the new film Pain Hustlers, which is currently in development at Netflix. Helmed by Harry Potter director David Yates, the story of Pain Hustlers revolves around Liza Drake (Blunt), a high-school dropout who is struggling to give both herself and her daughter a better life. After Liza gets a job at a failing pharmaceutical startup in Florida and finally achieves success, however, she unexpectedly finds herself at the center of a dangerous criminal conspiracy.
Now, it has been reported by Deadline that Evans is in talks to star opposite Blunt in Netflix’s new Pain Hustlers. As far as Evans’ role in the film is concerned, no further information has been revealed. However, the new project is said to be similar in tone to drama films like The Big Short, American Hustle, and The Wolf of Wall Street. Production on Pain Hustlers is expected to begin in late August.
Since his highly successful stint as Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe ended in 2019, Evans has appeared in multiple critically-acclaimed films, including Rian Johnson’s whodunit Knives Out. The actor’s relationship with Netflix has grown, too, after Evans starred in the thriller film The Red Sea Diving Resort for the streaming giant. He will next be seen duking it out with Ryan Gosling in Netflix’s action-thriller film The Gray Man later this month, which will see him reunite with directing duo The Russo Brothers for the first time since Avengers: Endgame. As for Blunt, who was initially tapped to play Black Widow in the MCU, Pain Hustlers will mark her first collaboration with Evans in an on-screen team-up that will undoubtedly entice moviegoers, marking what appears to be a return to the drama genre for both of these impressive talents.
