Hailey Upton actress Tracy Spiridakos opens up about her co-star and on-screen partner, Jesse Lee Soffer, leaving Chicago PD in season 10.
Chicago PD Hailey Upton actress Tracy Spiridakos comments on Jesse Lee Soffer’s impending exit in season 10. A rather late addition to the NBC police procedural, she started as Jay Halstead’s partner at Hank Voight’s Intelligence. Over time, however, Upton and Halstead’s professional relationship turned romantic, with the pair ultimately tying the knot in Chicago PD season 9.
Ahead of its upcoming fall return alongside the rest of the One Chicago Franchise, news broke out that Soffer will be exiting Chicago PD. The actor is part of the original cast of the NBC police procedural and is among the ones who are still in the series after almost a decade. Details about what exactly led to his impending departure from the long-running show are still unclear, but if there’s one thing that’s clear, both Soffer and Halstead will be immensely missed in Chicago PD not just by the fans, but also his co-stars as proven by Spiridakos’ latest social media post.
Taking to Instagram, Spiridakos opens up about Soffer leaving Chicago PD. She shares an image of the pair in between filming and then wrote a heartfelt message to her on-screen professional and personal partner. Spiridakos thanks Soffer for his guidance, kindness, and friendship. She also calls him “the greatest onscreen husband a girl could ask for.” While she admits that she will miss hanging out with him, she is excited to see what his next adventure will be. Check out Spiridakos’ post below:
Despite being a fairly late addition to Intelligence, Upton quickly became an integral part of Voight’s unit in Chicago PD. Aside from her professional capabilities, it also helped that Spiridakos has great chemistry with Soffer. It’s no wonder NBC decided to take their partnership to the next level and made them romantically involved as well. In her message, it sounds like Spiridakos has long known that Soffer will be exiting the One Chicago franchise. While the actor already confirmed the news with an official statement followed by a social media post, the real reason for his shocking departure remains unknown.
Another highlight from Spiridakos’ post is her calling Halstead a great on-screen husband. On the one hand, it’s great to know that the pair have enjoyed working with each other, with the actress speaking highly of her co-star. But it’s also a heartbreaking reminder that after Soffer’s exit, fans will no longer be able to see more of their relationship as husband and wife. When and how exactly Halstead’s final Chicago PD outing will pan out is still uncertain at this point, but viewers are hoping to see the newlyweds have some happy moments before their inevitable split.
