Namor the Sub-Mariner actor Tenoch Huerta responds to alleged leaks that reveal what the character might look like in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
Tenoch Huerta cheekily responds to alleged image leaks of Namor the Sub-Mariner in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Marvel Studios is currently busy promoting Taika Waititi’s Thor: Love and Thunder, but after its premiere, the MCU will close out the year with Ryan Coogler’s upcoming Black Panther sequel. Understandably, there are high expectations for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever considering how successful the original 2018 film was both critically and commercially. It also holds Marvel Studios’ first and so far only Best Picture nod.
Following the tragic death of trailblazer and lead star Chadwick Boseman, the Black Panther team had to evaluate if and how they were going to move forward without the T’Challa actor. Ultimately, the film was reworked to celebrate Boseman’s legacy. Plot details for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever continue to be scant, but reports have been consistent that it will feature a Wakanda at war with the MCU’s Atlantis — something that has been supported by set images. In connection with the upcoming debut of the underwater world also comes the introduction of comics villain Namor, who is expected to be played by Huerta.
In light of recent alleged Black Panther 2 leaks revealing the first look at Namor, Huerta takes to his official social media to respond. In his tweet, the actor posts a photo of SpongeBob’s Mermaid Man with the translated caption “Tenoch images are leaked…” Clearly, he is poking fun at this unofficial reveal of his own underwater character. Marvel Studios has yet to make an official announcement that Huerta will indeed play Namor in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, or that the character will even be in the film for that matter. However, considering the string of reports and other evidence supporting this claim, it is highly likely that this is the case. If anything, the fact that Huerta commented on these rumored Black Panther: Wakanda Forever leaks is a good indication that he holds this role. Otherwise, it would be odd for him to directly reference them. This isn’t the first time that the actor’s social media supported claims of him playing Namor in the Coogler-directed flick. Back in March, Huerta revealed that he was in Puerto Rico at the same time the sequel was filming there.
Fans may not have to wait that much longer to get concrete details about Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Marvel Studios will host a Hall H panel at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, and it will likely reveal new information about their upcoming projects, not to mention announce new titles beyond their currently confirmed slate. Chances are that Coogler and the rest of the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever cast will be there, including Huerta. The event could mark his first official appearance as an MCU actor.
