The Scream movies are some of the most beloved installments in the slasher genre of horror, but viewers will not be able to find all the titles on popular streamers like Netflix or Hulu. 1996’s Scream introduced viewers to a new slasher icon in Ghostface, a masked menace wreaking havoc in the fictional town of Woodsboro, California. Directed by Wes Craven and written by Kevin Williamson, Scream starred Neve Campbell as a new generation’s final girl, Sidney Prescott, alongside now-franchise regulars like Courteney Cox and David Arquette. The movie then spawned two sequels where the Ghostface killer continues to prey on Sidney, but remained a trilogy for several years.
2011 saw a reboot of the Scream franchise with the meta storytelling of Scream 4, and an MTV TV series set in the then-present day of 2015. Nearly a decade after Scream 4, Scream 5 landed in theaters, bringing with it a new cast including Melissa Barrera, Jack Quaid, and Jenna Ortega. Roger L. Jackson reprised his role as the legendary voice behind Ghostface too. Many cast members returned for Scream 6, which hit theaters in March 2023. Scream 6 revamps the franchise, taking it away from Woodsboro to New York (though without Sidney). The entire Scream franchise is or will be available to stream — here’s where.
How To Watch Scream Online
- Stream on Paramount Plus and Pluto TV.
Craven’s entry that launched the franchise debuted just a week before Christmas in 1996. Now considered a classic, since it premiered over two decades ago, Scream continues to stand the test of time. Unfortunately, those looking to stream the movie won’t be able to find it on Netflix or Hulu. It is, however, available for subscribers of Paramount+ and on Pluto TV. Streamers searching for Scream have the option to rent the movie starting at $3.99 on services like Apple TV, Amazon, YouTube, and Vudu.
How To Watch Scream 2 Online
- Stream on Paramount Plus and Pluto TV.
Craven quickly returned to helm the first official sequel, Scream 2, which released in December of the following year. The follow-up installment centered around Sidney’s time in college during a series of copy-cat murders. Campbell reprised her role alongside Cox, Arquette, and Jamie Kennedy as Gale, Dewey, and Randy, respectively. In addition, the sequel featured appearances by Laurie Metcalf, Jerry O’Connell, Timothy Olyphant, and Elise Neal. Like Scream, the sequel won’t be found on all major streaming services. Instead, it’s currently streaming on Paramount+ and Pluto TV. It’s also available on the aforementioned services for the same rental price.
How To Watch Scream 3 Online
- Stream on Paramount Plus and Pluto TV.
In 2000, the trio of Campbell, Cox, and Arquette re-teamed with Craven to finish up the original trilogy with Scream 3. Years after the last encounter, a new killer took up the Ghostface mantle, bringing Sidney out of hiding. As she faced the villain, she also came to terms with revelations regarding the truth about her mother. The more humorous sequel is currently streaming on Pluto TV and Paramount+. Renters can find the title on Amazon, YouTube, Apple TV, and Vudu starting at $3.99.
How To Watch Scream 4 Online
- Stream on Paramount Plus and Tubi.
Scream 4 served as Craven’s final film before his passing. 11 years after Scream 3, Sidney returned to Woodsboro on the fifteenth anniversary of the original massacre. While she’s in town, a new Ghostface killer targets the friends of Sidney’s teenage cousin, Jill. Sidney, Gale, and Dewey then try to use their past as a way to prevent more killings. Out of all the released movies in the franchise, Scream 4 is the only one available on Tubi alongside Paramount+. Renting is another option on platforms like Apple TV, Amazon, YouTube, and Vudu. Renting Scream 4 starts at $3.99.
How To Watch Scream 5 Online
- Stream on Paramount Plus.
Scream 5 takes fans of the horror series back to Woodsboro for one more confrontation with a Ghostface killer. This time around, the franchise gets something of a soft reboot as legacy characters like Sidney, Gale, and Dewey appear, but not everyone makes it out alive. A new generation of Woodsboro residents, including children of the original characters, are terrorized in this installment, and it’s those new characters who continue the story in Scream 6. Fans looking to stream Scream 5 will need a Paramount+ subscription. While other Scream franchise entries are available elsewhere, the streaming platform is the exclusive streaming home to the movie.
How To Watch Scream: The TV Series Online
Scream was transformed into a TV show on MTV, but didn’t have ties to the movie franchise. Instead, it followed a girl named Emma who had ties to her town’s dark past. She and her friends were then stalked by a masked killer as they investigated the killer’s motives. Both seasons and the Halloween special are currently available for Netflix users. Though there aren’t any rental options, those interested in watching Scream: The TV Series can purchase the episodes on Apple TV, Amazon, and Vudu, with prices ranging from $9.99 to $24.99 per season.
How To Watch Scream: Resurrection Online
The TV version of Scream was renewed for a third season in 2017, but the network decided to take an anthology approach. Not only was the story rebooted, but a new cast and location were chosen. With a cast headlined by names like RJ Cyler, Giorgia Whigham, Tyga, Keke Palmer, and Tyler Posey, the new season — titled Scream: Resurrection — premiered in 2019 after moving to VH1. Like the other TV installments, season 3 is included on Netflix. Despite not having rental options, Resurrection can be purchased on Apple TV, Amazon, and Vudu for as low as $10.99 for the entire season.
When & Where To Watch Scream 6 Online
For the first time, the Scream franchise truly seeks to leave Woodsboro behind. Though the second and third movies took Sidney out of Woodsboro, this entry not only leaves Woodsboro, but also doesn’t include Neve Campbell’s Sidney. Instead, the action moves to New York City with Melissa Barrera, Jenna Ortega, Jasmin Savoy Brown, and Mason Gooding reprising their roles from the previous movie. The group finds themselves terrorized by someone in a Ghostface mask yet again, but with new weapons and a very big city of suspects.
Scream 6 is not currently available to stream as the movie is now in theaters, but it is expected to be added to Paramount+ just like the previous installment. Most horror features added to the platform are there within 60 days of their release, which would put Scream 6 on Paramount+ by May 2023. Box office success for the movie, however, could see a delay in it being added to the platform. Scream 6 will still be available to stream through Paramount+ later in 2023.
