In honor of the forthcoming Ahsoka series, a Star Wars fan artist has put together a piece bring the show’s trio of heroines into the spotlight.
When Ahsoka hits screens in August, it will see the reunion of several major Star Wars Rebels characters. Ahsoka Tano is a Star Wars icon in her own right, the former Padawan of Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and a capable warrior for the Rebellion. Fighting alongside her in Phoenix Squadron were the Mandalorian Sabine Wren and General Hera Syndulla, captain of the Ghost.
Fanart by kayo_artwork sees Ahsoka, Hera, and Sabine assembling for a group photo during the days of the Empire’s reign.
The poses of the characters evokes a picture day feel at work, with the three heroines donning their attire from Rebels. Such a dynamic wasn’t seen in the animated series, but Ahsoka will bring the three together for a crucial mission.
Ahsoka Will Pay Off A Trio Rebels Set Up
Though the trio will play a pivotal role in Ahsoka, a team-up of Ahsoka, Hera, and Sabine is something that Rebels only teased. Ahsoka never took up a bunk on the Ghost during her time with Phoenix Squadron, often chasing down leads on the Inquisitors and Darth Vader. Rebels season 1 established the foundation for this dynamic, however, when Hera grudgingly allowed Sabine to accompany her to a meeting with Fulcrum (which never took place).
For all the fanfare surrounding the returns of these characters, they’ve seldom had the opportunity to interact onscreen. There’s an implied relationship between Ahsoka and Sabine in the promotional material for Ahsoka, but much of Tano’s time in Rebels is spent with Ezra Bridger and Kanan Jarrus. The former Jedi did have more frequent communication with Hera as the agent Fulcrum, and they both spent time on the command bridge of Phoenix Squadron’s capital ship. How the three personalities will function and clash will be one of the treats of Ahsoka, satisfying a set-up made nine years ago.
