Ahsoka star Rosario Dawson teases that season 2 of the show could move forward, but only if one condition is met. After the character first appeared in animation form in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and then in Star Wars Rebels, Dawson brought Ahsoka to life in live-action in season 2 of The Mandalorian. Dawson subsequently appeared briefly in The Book of Boba Fett and is now slated to star in her very own limited Disney Plus series.
After the reveal of the Ahsoka show trailer at Star Wars Celebration 2023, Dawson took to the stage to share that a season 2 of the series isn’t actually off the table. As shared by LaughingPlace.com on Twitter, Dawson says that if season 1 is received well and is widely viewed, “maybe we’ll get a second season.”
It’s not clear what specific metrics the show will have to hit to receive an order for season 2, but excitement certainly seems to be high for season 1 after Dawson’s appearances in both The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett.
What To Expect From Ahsoka Season 1
After months of mystery regarding what Ahsoka would actually be about, the first trailers for the show have now finally revealed more of what’s to come. As she made clear during her appearances in The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka is determined to track down Lars Mikkelsen’s Grand Admiral Thrawn, the “heir to the Empire.” The recent trailers confirm that Dawson’s character is very much continuing on this quest in the show, but will also face off against some new enemies.
The trailers reveal two new Dark Jedi with Baylan (Ray Stevenson) and Shin (Ivanna Sakhno), but these two characters remain mostly mysterious beyond their obvious connection with The Force and proficiency with lightsabers. Not long after the Ahsoka trailer debuted, social media became awash with debates over Baylan and Shin’s new lightsabers, which are noticeably more orange-tinged than Star Wars‘ more typical red. It’s possible that this means the show will be introducing some new kind of lightsaber technology into the Star Wars universe.
In terms of allies, Ahsoka will see Dawson’s character team up with several individuals. Star Wars Celebration 2023 provided a first look at one major ally in the form of Mary Elizabeth Winstead’s Hera Syndulla, one of the best pilots in the galaxy. Beyond Winstead’s exciting addition, Ahsoka will also feature Natasha Liu Bordizzo’s Sabine Wren, Eman Esfadi’s Ezra Bridger, and Diana Lee Inosanto’s Morgan Elsbeth. If all goes well with season 1, it now seems very possible at least some of these characters could return in the potential season 2.
