Gamers are playing Marvel’s Spider-Man yet again with the latest remaster that brings the game to PC, and the modding community is already going wild. Much like with God of War, fans are loving all the creative and/or silly mods that alter the game in so many ways.
One of the biggest crazes in the mod community is the suits that fans have been able to create, and the game has only been released on PC for a short amount of time. These range from iconic costumes straight out of the movies or comics to turning Peter Parker into a completely different character.
Play As May Parker
If anybody was a hero in Marvel’s Spider-Man, it was Aunt May with her endless compassion and courage. She was easily one of the best characters in the game and this mod from Lucifer6667676 can allow players to play as her.
It’s a more straightforward character change but one that is a joy to witness as this older woman takes down criminals and supervillains. This mod even has multiple outfits for May Parker to wear, including a leather-clad Aunt May that makes her look like an action hero.
Cel-Shaded 2099 Suit
The skin based on Miguel O’Hara AKA Spider-Man 2099 in the game is well-done, but it’s understandable that some fans would want a more comic-accurate design. This mod gives fans a cel-shaded version of 2099 that makes Spidey look straight out of the 90s comics.
The cel-shading is surprisingly well-done by mod creator preachfuzz, rivaling the other cel-shaded skins featured in both Marvel’s Spider-Man games. However, if this does not match someone’s taste for 2099, there are other versions out there including a skin mod based on Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions.
The Spectacular Spider-Man
There are already multiple suit mods out there based on the many animated versions of Spider-Man. This mod is based on the short-lived but beloved animated series The Spectacular Spider-Man.
This mod replaces the Spider-Clan skin, utilizing its cel-shaded design to replicate the unique art style of the animated series. It shows a lot of creativity and ingenuity from creator niquitadraws; replicating the show’s design to the point that gamers can practically hear Josh Keaton’s voice coming from him.
Venom ReSkin
All that white of the Future Foundation skin is replaced with a surprisingly detailed Venom symbiote skin from modder R4v3nB14ck. This skin takes on the spider logo-less design of the live-action Venom movies, even replicating the white veins and liquid-like eyes.
This mod also changes the Iron Spider arms, turning them into Venom-inspired tendrils. It may not be an actual Venom character, but it is the closest thing until the release of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
Edge Of Time
One of the more underrated superhero games that deserve a remaster is Spider-Man: Edge Of Time. It has gained a cult following as shown with this mod by SpaceDasher, replicating that game’s suit down to a more realistic web pattern on his suit.
The modding community for Marvel’s Spider-Man has been showing an overwhelming love for classic Spider-Man games, with this being just one example. SpaceDasher has also released a well-made variant mod that gives the Edge Of Time suit a black suit overhaul.
Spider-Man 3 Black Suit
One of the most popular mods for Marvel’s Spider-Man right now is the black-suit Spider-Man from Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 3 by CSD59ALL. It’s a very simple recolor of the Raimi skin that’s already in the game, but sometimes the simplest mods are the best.
Even though Spider-Man 3 is not a favorite of the many Spider-Man movies, skin mods like this showcase a love for Tobey Maguire’s black suit. Especially since the memes of Bully Maguire are still rampant across all forms of social media.
Daredevil Character Mod
The modding community for Marvel’s Spider-Man is still young, but other than swaps with other characters in the game, there aren’t many character mods. However, one modder named TheRealiceMage has released one that turns Spider-Man into Daredevil.
If any character fits the athletic fighting style of Spider-Man, it’s Daredevil and the mod has been heavily praised. Although fans are excited to see what Insomniac Games does with Marvel’s Wolverine, this mod shows that the developers are also perfect for a Daredevil spin-off.
Spider-Man: No Way Home Final Swing Suit
Many fans were happy to see suits from Spider-Man: No Way Home became some of the best DLC suits for Marvel’s Spider-Man. However, one suit remained missing and that was the final suit that appeared in the final seconds of the film for one of the most fan-pleasing scenes.
This shiny suit has elements of all Spider-Man movie suits combined and everyone praised it, which is why many were happy when modder Andrei867 gifted it to players on NexusMods. It’s currently the third most popular suit on the site.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Suit
There is no denying that Sony and Insomniac have been nothing but generous with the cinematic Spider-Man suits. However, for whatever reason, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 suit never made it to Marvel’s Spider-Man even though the first Garfield suit did.
So thankfully, TangoTeds created the second most popular mod in the community. This is due to Andrew Garfield’s second suit being a fan favorite, despite The Amazing Spider-Man 2 being a less-than-loved film. The suit was so loved that it even returned to Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Symbiote Black Suit
There is a plethora of black Spider-Man suits out there and many of them are in Marvel’s Spider-Man. However, everyone still wishes they could play as the classic symbiote Spider-Man. Fortunately, the modding community has provided many mods based on the symbiote Spider-Man.
There are classic comic versions of the black suit, mods based on the Shattered Dimensions version, and many more. However, the most popular mod in the community comes from jedijosh920, and he created a symbiote version of Insomniac’s Advanced Suit which is likely what the official black suit will look like in the sequel.
