Summary
- The return of characters like Champagne, Elton John, Shola, Merlin, Polly Wilkins, Ginger Ale, Princess Tilde, and Tequila would add more depth and continuity to the Kingsman franchise.
- The Kingsman movies strike a balance between excessive blood and violence and crude humor, creating a unique tone that sets them apart.
- The next Kingsman movie, Kingsman: The Blue Blood, will likely continue the strategy of incorporating interesting characters and their relationships while maintaining the franchise’s signature dark and humorous elements.
The Kingsman franchise has the characters to thank for its massive success, and many of those, not just Eggsy and Harry, should return for Kingsman: The Blue Blood. The series has produced hit after hit, including a prequel film that had an entirely different cast. The films are full of blood and violence that feels excessive in moments, but they also try to achieve balance. Having interesting characters that use lots of crude humor is the perfect way to lighten what would otherwise be an extremely dark film, a strategy that will likely continue in the next Kingsman movie.
The original trilogy follows Eggsy as he is inducted and trained in the art of the Kingsman. He is sent to a facility where he learns their craft with several other trainees, and as the films go on, he uses his training to eliminate threats from destroying the world. He does so with his mentor and trainer, Harry. Though Eggsy and Harry are two of the most interesting characters in the Kingsman movie franchise, they are not the only ones. Throughout the films, Eggsy gets plenty of help from other characters who, like him, want to save the world and might show up again.
8 Champagne
Champagne is the head of The Statesman organization, which is the American equivalent of the Kingsman. Brought to life by Jeff Bridges, Champagne was an important leader in bringing together the two organizations. The two groups were at odds earlier in the movie due to several misunderstandings, but Champagne apologizes for his agents’ behavior and offers to work together. If the third installment in the Kingsman franchise goes even bigger, it’s safe to say that they will need to bring the American agency back for some help, hopefully with Champagne.
7 Elton John
Elton John made an appearance as the fictional version of himself in Kingsman: The Golden Circle. He had been kidnapped by Poppy Adams, the second film’s villain, and was forced to perform his music throughout his scenes. While this was completely out of pocket, Elton John’s cameo in Kingsman 2 was important because it was the exact mood that the Kingsman franchise seeks to create. His guest role can also be explained by his friendship with Taron Egerton after the actor portrayed him in Rocketman. A return to the role of his fictional self would be hilarious and would provide a great partial soundtrack for the final film.
6 Shola
Shola was a character in the prequel movie, The King’s Man. While this movie took place in the early 1900s, the Kingsman franchise has done flashbacks before to provide historical context for their plots and characters. Since the characters in this movie were the reason that the organization was founded, it would be a great opportunity to intertwine these two stories. Shola’s character was honorable and brave. He was the first person to have the codename Merlin. Bringing him back would help close one chapter in the ending of an entire franchise.
5 Merlin
Merlin was one of the most influential characters in the first two films. Sadly, he died a very heroic death in the Kingsman franchise. He stepped off a landmine to take out some guards and save the lives of Eggsy and Harry. Even though he’s dead in the present, the Kingsman has never shied away from a good flashback. Even Merlin’s actor Mark Strong won’t rule out returning for a third film. Bringing him back for the finale in the trilogy would be a great way to commemorate not only his sacrifice but also the relationships that his character was able to build during his time in the franchise.
4 Polly Wilkins
Polly was another character in The King’s Man who helped found the organization that inspired this franchise. She was originally the housekeeper for The Duke of Oxford in the film, but she went with a group of people on a mission to kill Grigori Rasputin. He had previously been thought to be almost impossible to kill, but Polly took him out at a Christmas party. Like Shola, Polly was one of the most important founding members of the Kingsman organization. It would be an interesting dynamic to watch play out on screen if Polly also came back for a flashback scene.
3 Ginger Ale
Another American Statesman featured in Kingsman: The Golden Circle was Halle Berry’s Ginger Ale. She was the science and technology specialist in the second installment. This can be seen in several circumstances, like when she tries to bring back Harry’s memories or when she puts another agent in suspended animation to prevent the poison from spreading through their body. She took up the mantle of a fallen agent at her organization and got eager approval from her boss. With a new moniker of Agent Whiskey, bringing her character back to show what she’s really capable of would be a great way to continue her development.
2 Princess Tilde
Princess Tilde has played an important role for Eggsy since the first film as his main romantic interest and now wife. In the first movie, her role was very minimal, but in the second film, she was much more prominent. While their relationship in the Kingsman franchise is not the most healthy, it seems that he cares about Princess Tilde deeply enough to marry her after her life is in danger. There will most assuredly be plenty of wild situations for them to face together and, hopefully, they both come out of it alive and happy.
1 Tequila
Tequila was one of the most memorable agents introduced in Kingsman: The Golden Circle despite Channing Tatum’s small role in Kingsman 2. Surviving all the way through, he worked with The Statesman and The Kingsman alike to defeat Poppy Adams. Tequila almost died because of her tainted drugs, but was saved because his boss, Champagne, noticed the blue rash caused by the virus. Tequila stayed until the end of the Kingsman‘s second movie, even making appearances at Eggsy’s wedding. Tequila ended up joining the Kingsman organization at the end of the film, so his return to the franchise in Kingsman: The Blue Blood is likely.
