White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre dispensed with efforts to at least pretend she had any intention of telling the truth from behind her podium, claiming – absurdly – that illegal immigration is actually down 90% since President Biden began implementing his policies.
Jean-Pierre, during a Monday press conference, was asked by a reporter how the administration plans to deal with a border crisis spiraling out of control.
Apparently part of that strategy is to pull statistics out of thin air.
Pierre began by assuring reporters of how “seriously” President Biden takes the problem of illegal immigration.
“And that’s why you’ve seen the parolee program be so successful,” she added. “It has — when it comes to illegal migration – you’ve seen it come down by more than 90 percent, and that’s because of … the actions that this President has taken.”

It’s a Pretty Big Lie
Germany in the 1930s used the concept of ‘the big lie‘ – a lie so big that nobody would bother to assume it could be made up because to do so would be utterly preposterous.
Karine Jean-Pierre’s lie on illegal immigration is, to put it mildly, preposterous.
You may be surprised to learn that illegal immigration is not actually down 90% thanks to President Biden.
Even outlets like NBC News have made that clear, reporting that illegal border crossings in the fiscal year 2022 topped 2.76 million, breaking the previous annual record by a staggering 1 million people.
This might be the worst lie ever told by a White House Press Secretary:

Additionally, over 1.3 million “gotaways” have crossed the border and escaped into the U.S. since Joe Biden took office.
Just in case our lovely friend Karine needs a refresher – breaking records and “down 90%” are what is known as “opposites.”
Mexican cartels, according to DEA Commissioner Anne Milgram, are smuggling fentanyl into the U.S. and “killing Americans with fentanyl at catastrophic and record rates like we have never seen before.”
“Catastrophic and record rates” is a far cry from ‘down 90%’.

Critics Rip Jean-Pierre Apart
Karine Jean-Pierre was roasted on social media for telling such a brazen lie about illegal immigration.
“These people think we’re stupid,” wrote Financial Guys Podcast host Mike Sperazza.

Hmm … That’s a tough call.
As absurd as Karine Jean-Pierre’s lie on illegal immigration may be, she seems to have settled on this as an actual tactic to combat the border crisis – Tell lies so sweeping and bold that nobody will question them.
Pierre just last month claimed fentanyl levels at the border are at “historic lows.” They aren’t.
DOOCY TIME: “Cartels kill Americans on this side of the border w/drugs & now they’re killing Americans on the other side…w/guns. Why is President Biden so comfortable w/cartels operating so close to the U.S.?”

It’s weird, that marks two blatant – just absolutely blatant – lies this year from Karine Jean-Pierre. And yet, PolitiFact – fact-checkers extraordinaire that they are – haven’t posted a fact-check of the White House press secretary since 2022.
Do you know who they did do a fact-check on regarding border comments this year? Fox News contributor Kayleigh McEnany, who argued Biden’s policies have led to an increase of fentanyl deaths in America.
Amongst the facts they checked was an assertion that “the southern border is not wide open.”
The border is closed. Fentanyl levels are at historic lows. Illegal immigration is down 90%. This is what the official organs of power tell you with a straight face.
If that were the case, Biden wouldn’t be authorizing the Department of Defense and Homeland Security to send some military forces to the southwest border.

Perhaps the silver lining here is that Karine Jean-Pierre finally used the racist, xenophobic proper term “illegal” in describing illegal immigrants crossing the border.
Now is the time to support and share the sources you trust.
