Thanks to the game’s characteristic open play style, The Sims players have been telling their own zany stories since the very first game in the series. Players can have control over almost every aspect of a Sim’s life, from the work they do to the friends and enemies they make, even to their misfortunes and admittedly creative in-game deaths. One area players can have the most control over is the family.
Players have direct control over every member of a Sim’s household, giving them immense creative freedom to tell their story their way, even down to the smallest detail. Players even have some control and influence over how many babies result from each pregnancy. If a player has always wanted to have twins or know what it feels like to be a triplet, this is their opportunity.
Using Cheats to Have Multiple Babies
Pregnancy in The Sims 4 is fairly straightforward: two Sims try for a baby, and within the next day or so, the Sim can take a pregnancy test in the bathroom to find out whether they are pregnant. Normally, Sims will only give birth to one baby at a time. However, there is always a chance for a pregnancy to result in twins or even triplets.
If players want to guarantee a pregnancy with multiple babies, there are a few things they can do to influence the outcome. The easiest way to have a pregnant Sim give birth to more than one baby in a single pregnancy is through the use of cheats in Sims 4.
This is a multi-step process, but players can input any number of babies they want their Sim to have at one time, up to seven. However, as a Sim’s household is capped at eight, they may only be able to have as many as six babies total until one grows up and moves out of the home.
To use this method, players need to first obtain their Sim’s ID number. Every Sim in the game has a unique identification number. Players can find this number by pulling up the console (Ctrl + Shift + C for PC and all four shoulder buttons for console users) and typing sims.get_sim_id_by_name (enter Sim’s full name here) in the box, including the parentheses.
The result will be a Sim’s unique ID number. The player needs to write that down so they don’t lose it. They will then need to activate cheats using the code testingcheats true.
Once cheats are active, the player needs to type pregnancy.force_offspring_count (Sim ID here) (number of babies). So, if a player wanted to ensure Sim 123456789 had triplets, the code would be pregnancy.force_offspring_count (123456789) (3). This is said to work with any number of babies up to seven.
It is possible that traveling back and forth to the hospital to give birth will mess up the cheat. To avoid this, players may want to use another cheat to induce labor right away at the Sim’s home and ensure a successful birth. The cheat to immediately put a pregnant Sim in labor is Sims.add_buff buff_pregnancy_inlabor. It is always recommended that players save their game before inputting any of these codes to make sure they can go back if something goes wrong.
These cheats will work on transgender Sims and male Sims who have been abducted and impregnated by aliens with the Get To Work Expansion Pack.
Use Rewards and Lot Traits to Have Multiple Babies
Players who don’t want to mess with cheat codes have a few other ways to influence the number of babies a Sim can have in a single pregnancy. The one available for all players without the need to install DLC is the Fertility reward which can be purchased using Satisfaction points from completing whims or levels of their aspiration.
If players have the Spa Day Game Pack, they can get a Sim who is a Wellness expert and take them for a Fertility Massage. This does effectively the same thing as the Fertility Reward but without the need to use Satisfaction points.
Sims will also have a slightly increased chance of having multiple babies if they spend the days watching children’s television and listening to the Kid’s music station on the radio.
None of these methods can guarantee a pregnancy that results in more than one baby; only cheating can do that. These are just ways for players to increase the odds of their Sim having twins or triplets naturally.
