Missy’s tense conversation with George in Young Sheldon season 6 episode 11 made Sheldon’s saddest The Big Bang Theory regret even worse.
Warning! Spoilers ahead for Young Sheldon season 6, episode 11. Missy’s latest conversation with George in Young Sheldon season 6 made Sheldon’s saddest The Big Bang Theory regret worse. Known for his ability to always share his opinions, Sheldon never holds back from speaking his mind, even if they are hurtful sometimes. However, there’s one thing he never talked about that which continued to haunt him until he was a fully grown adult living in Pasadena in The Big Bang Theory. This ended up being his saddest regret which Missy made worse in Young Sheldon season 6, episode 11.
Despite Missy being the smartest Cooper, Young Sheldon continues to sideline the character. Instead of providing her with a compelling narrative like her siblings, she is mostly used as a supporting player, getting involved in other people’s arcs because she doesn’t have her own. That being said, her latest conversation with George in Young Sheldon season 6, episode 11 actually allows her to do the one thing that Sheldon was never able to do — something that he openly regretted in The Big Bang Theory.
Missy Confronted George For Possible Cheating, Unlike Sheldon
In one of the most unexpected moments in Young Sheldon season 6 episode, “Ruthless, Toothless, and A Week of Bed Rest,” Missy confronted his father for potentially having an affair behind Mary’s back. Previously, the CBS family sitcom floated the idea that George is Brenda’s secret boyfriend. While the jury is still out on whether the pair is engaged in an extra-marital relationship, Missy calling George out about the possibility makes Sheldon’s biggest The Big Bang Theory regret worse as it is the fact that he was never able to talk to his dad about the traumatic experience of catching him on the act of cheating on his mom.
According to Sheldon’s story to Penny in The Big Bang Theory, he accidentally walked in on his dad having sexual relations with another woman when he came home early from college. He was so stunned he started knocking three times. Unfortunately, he and George never got the chance to talk about what happened, and a year after the incident, the Cooper patriarch unexpectedly died. Considering his changing perspective on his father as proven by adult Sheldon’s narration in Young Sheldon, being able to confront him about what happened could have resulted in a better relationship between them — something he deeply regrets.
Why Sheldon Didn’t Talk To George About Catching His Affair
As frank as Sheldon is, catching his dad cheating on his mom would have understandably traumatized him. While he isn’t as close to him as Missy is, as seen in Young Sheldon, he still acknowledges him as the family’s leader. So it makes sense that he wouldn’t have known how to deal with his discovery, let alone seek out his dad to talk about it. Since George didn’t seem to initiate any kind of discussion to explain his side of the story, Sheldon didn’t have the opportunity to discuss the matter until his dad unexpectedly died per his story in The Big Bang Theory.
Young Sheldon season 6 airs Thursdays on CBS.
