To unlock the Dereliction Skill Effect in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, Hunters must complete the expansion’s main story and defeat the final boss.
Dereliction is a risk-reward Skill Effect in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak that generates Qurio, butterfly-like creatures that gradually drain the Hunter’s HP while bolstering attack power. As time passes, the player will gain more Qurio, further boosting their attacks. Fortunately, this Skill Effect will not kill the player, but it will cause their health to fall to one point, which means even a slight bit of damage could have them Carted in Sunbreak. Therefore, a primary objective when using Dereliction will be to ensure that one’s HP pool is replenished at all times — at least enough to tank one or two hits.
There are multiple ways to restore one’s HP while Dereliction is active in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak. Of course, the most rudimentary method is drinking a Healing Potion to refill one’s health. However, Potion consumption is not always an available option during combat, especially during intense moments when a monster is Enraged. Accordingly, players will need to turn to other methods of healing.
One way to recover the HP lost from Dereliction is by performing a Switch Skill Swap. This action resets the number of Qurio back to one but restores any missing HP. Eating Gourmet Fish is also an excellent means of replenishing HP over time, nullifying the Dereliction’s heath-draining effect. Furthermore, combining Dereliction with self-healing Skill Effects in MHR: Sunbreak, such as Blood Rite or Bloodlust, is ideal for regaining lost HP. Fourthly, eating a Super Recovery Dango before starting a hunt will also provide HP recovery over time.
How Does Dereliction Work In MHR: Sunbreak
To unlock the Dereliction Skill Effect in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, Hunters must forge and equip the Archfiend Armor Armor Set. This set is acquired by slaying Gaismagorm, the final boss of Sunbreak. Hence, Dereliction will only be an accessible Skill Effect for those who’ve completed the expansion’s main story. Players can hunt down Gaismagorm to procure Monster Materials for the following armor pieces with Dereliction:
- Archfiend Armor Epine: Resentment Lv 1 and Dereliction Lv 2
- Archfiend Armor Sceros: Resentment Lv 1 and Dereliction Lv 1
Resentment pairs perfectly well with Dereliction since it increases attack power when a Hunter has recoverable damage, the red-orange portion of the HP bar that Skill Effect’s Qurio affect in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak. Below are the amounts of raw damage that Dereliction provides without Resentment:
- Level 1 and Max Qurio: +25 attack power
- Level 2 and Max Qurio: +30 attack power
- Level 3 and Max Qurio: +35 attack power
When the Resentment Skill Effect is active, these values will be further enhanced, depending on the level of Resentment equipped.
Monster Hunter Rise is available on PC and Nintendo Switch.
