Fiona Apple has joined Watkins Family Hour on their newly released song, a cover of the country classic “(Remember Me) I’m the One Who Loves You.” Stuart Hamblin wrote the song, which became a hit for Johnny Cash, Ernest Tubb, and Dean Martin. It will also appear on Watkins Family Hour’s Vol. II, which arrives on August 19. Check out “(Remember Me) I’m the One Who Loves You,” with piano by Benmont Tench, below (via Consequence).
Sara and Sean Watkins, both formerly of Nickel Creek, lead Watkins Family Hour. Vol. II features guest appearances from Jackson Browne, Jon Brion, Madison Cunningham, Willie Watson, and more. They shared a cover of Tune-Yards’ “Hypnotized,” from Vol. II, with their announcement of the album.
The Watkins began their enterprise in 2002 at Los Angeles’ Largo club, hosting a rotating cast of friends as part of their regular performances. They released Watkins Family Hour in 2015, with Apple joining them on “Where I Oughta Be,” a Harlan Howard song made famous by Skeeter Davis. They followed it with Brother, Sister in 2020, where Sean and Sara Watkins focused on original material they’d written together as a duo.
