NBC News reporter Jo Ling Kent adopted the radical leftist term for mothers – ‘birthing people’ – and argued the economic impacts of the Supreme Court’s abortion ruling will be “devastating.”
Kent’s comments are an indication of how unserious our country has become.
She began by lamenting how motherhood “costs” the economy billions of dollars per year because it “reduces the labor force participation rate.”
Kent also pointed out that earnings are lower for those who have children.
“Birthing people who are seeking an abortion and have to carry an unwanted pregnancy to term are four times likelier to live below the federal poverty level, according to the University of California at San Francisco,” she said.

NBC’s Jo Ling Kent Discusses the Effects of Abortion Ruling on ‘Birthing People’
Not content to use the phrase just once, NBC reporter Jo Ling Kent, went on to mention “birthing people” a second time and then a third with a slight twist.
“If the birthing parent is able to travel and if they work for the right company and are seeking an abortion – more individuals we’re seeing are going to have to rely on their employer, right, for that financial support to carry that out,” she surmised.

Interestingly enough, adopting the ‘woke’ terminology seems to be a new phase for Kent. Here she is in a report on COVID vaccines and how they may affect pregnant “women.”
“As an expecting Mom myself, this is a question on my mind a lot and on the minds of millions of pregnant and nursing women all across America,” Kent says.
The NBC segment from just a year ago repeatedly refers to ‘science’ and “moms to be,” “women,” “mothers,” and “our pregnancy.”
No signs anywhere of the phrase “birthing people.”

Ghoulish Focus on Economics
Jo Ling Kent’s adoption of the phrase “birthing people” is typical in a left-wing bubble where the desire is more about drawing attention to oneself as being ‘woke’ and therefore ultimately more accepting of others than it is about focusing on facts and say, reality.
That’s why its usage is usually found amongst people typically known for simply creating terms and facts out of thin air.
Like Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) who has described women as “menstruating people.”
Rep. @AOC: Texas’ pro-life law perpetuates “rape culture”
“What this is about is controlling women’s bodies, & controlling people who are not cisgender men. This is about making sure that someone like me .. or any menstruating person … cannot make decisions over their own body” pic.twitter.com/ttLc7Ow4PX

Or fellow Squad member Representative Cori Bush (D-MO), who herself defined mothers as “birthing people.”
Every day, Black birthing people and our babies die because our doctors don’t believe our pain. My children almost became a statistic. I almost became a statistic.
I testified about my experience @OversightDems today.

Or this Democrat witness testifying before the House Judiciary Committee on abortion who could not define what a ‘woman’ is and claimed men are capable of getting pregnant and having abortions.
Rep. @jdanbishop: “Do you believe men can become pregnant and have abortions?”
Dem abortion witness: “Yes.” pic.twitter.com/M5DebkLriN

Aside from the NBC reporter’s use of the term “birthing people,” it’s also notable that the left is focusing heavily on the economic impacts of the abortion ruling. There wasn’t much concern about gas prices or grocery prices for Americans, but suddenly the economy is a big deal and by extension, killing babies should be a choice.
Axios reports that “experts” are predicting overturning Roe v. Wade is going to have a devastating impact on the economy. You know, the one that’s been run into the ground for the past two years by the Biden administration.
“The U.S. will see devastating economic consequences from the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, experts warned,” they wrote.
How convenient when the President desperately needs any scapegoat he can find for being an economic illiterate.

How long before President Biden blames inflation on the Supreme Court? Perhaps he’ll adopt the phrase ‘Little People Price Hike’ when addressing record-breaking gas prices.
Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen stated during a recent Senate Banking Committee hearing that “eliminating the right of women to make decisions about when and whether to have children would have very damaging effects on the economy, and would set women back decades.”
Yellen added that research “makes clear that denying women access to abortion increases their odds of living in poverty or need for public assistance.”
Again, Biden’s administration has killed the economy but now we’re supposed to go along with the argument that abortion will be the real backbreaker? Please.
Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) said he found Yellen’s comments “troubling” and challenged her on the matter.
And here’s Yellen explaining to @SenatorTimScott, the black son of a single mother who grew up in poverty, that it’s especially important for black women to have abortion access because they are often poor.
Scott responds powerfully: “I am thankful to be here as a U.S. Senator” pic.twitter.com/Ab3Miw7gfW

“Just for clarity’s sake, did you say that ending the life of a child is good for the labor force participation rate?” Scott asked.
“I think people can disagree on the issue of being pro-life or pro-abortion, but in the end, I think framing it in the context of labor force participation, it just feels callous to me,” he said.
Indeed, the left has turned a debate on whether or not to allow life to flourish into robotic statements about how “birthing people” need to be a part of the labor force participation rate.
There is something very wrong with today’s left and the media that supports them.
Now is the time to support and share the sources you trust.
