RHONY star Luann de Lesseps shares who she would want to star alongside in the legacy show. The countess can’t imagine being left out of it.
Former star of The Real Housewives of New York City Luann de Lesseps opened up about who she would like to see in the throwback “legacy” series. Following RHONY season 13, Bravo announced that they were putting the show on an indefinite hiatus. Although RHONY was one of the most popular Real Housewives franchises, season 13 was met with low ratings and disappointment from viewers. Many felt like the new cast member, Eboni K. Williams, was too “preachy” and focused too much on racial issues. RHONY fans were also tired of Ramona Singer’s ignorance and diva-like attitude.
Bravo producer Andy Cohen announced they would do a complete reboot of RHONY and cast unknown faces. With fans wondering what would happen to the original cast members, particularly those who have been around for years, Andy announced they would film a spinoff series starring RHONY fan favorites. Since his announcement of the RHONY shakeup in March, the housewives have been wondering what their future holds. Andy has been tight-lipped about the legacy show, sharing that Bravo is focusing on casting the reboot series for now.
In a recent Theepisode, Luann stated that she couldn’t imagine the legacy series happening without her and revealed who she would want to star alongside. She shared, “I think Aviva [Drescher] would be great to come back. She’s married, she has a family, she has kids. I mean, I think that would add a nice dynamic.” Luann also mentioned Kristen Taekman, who starred in RHONY seasons 6 and 7, and according to fans was one of the most underrated housewives. Jill Zarin, who was an RHONY OG, was also on Luann’s list, along with Dorinda Medley, Kelly Bensimon, and Tinsley Mortimer.
When David asked how Luann would feel if Heather Thomson and Carole Radziwill were cast in the legacy show, the countess cheekily replied, “Well, I wouldn’t be thrilled.” Heather made her debut on RHONY season 5 and left after season 7. She returned as a guest in later seasons but slammed RHONY for being fake and having made-up storylines. Carole also burned her bridges with Bravo when she feuded with Andy Cohen publicly after she left the show ahead of season 12.
While Luann waits for news of the legacy show, she and Sonja Morgan are currently working on a possible The Simple Life- themed reality show, featuring the two of them living in Middle America. Although nothing is confirmed, viewers are already loving the idea and are begging for it to move forward. Until then, both Luann and Sonja are keeping busy with their respective cabaret shows, which have gotten rave reviews from The Real Housewives of New York City fans.
