Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert announced she’ll be taking legal action against a Democrat political action committee (PAC) who dropped salacious claims this week that she was a ‘paid escort.’
American Muckrakers PAC – the same group that targeted the recently defeated Madison Cawthorn (R-NC) – announced last month that they were setting their sights on Boebert next.
Co-founder David Wheeler threatened at the time that he had “interesting information” on Boebert (R-CO).
That information dropped earlier this week in the form of allegations that the Republican congresswoman was a “paid escort” who had two abortions.
The group cited an anonymous source, provided heavily redacted text messages from that random person, and posted images of a woman who doesn’t appear to look very much like Boebert.
BREAKING: The American Muckrackers PAC alleges that Lauren Boebert used to be an “unlicensed, paid escort” and met clients using a sugar daddy website — allegedly her escort work led to her having an abortion. The facts are still unconfirmed. RT IF YOU THINK THAT IT SOUNDS TRUE!

Boebert Escort Claims So Ridiculous the Daily Beast Won’t Touch It
The accusations, despite clearly sounding as if they were fake from the onset, went viral, spread by dubious left-wing Twitter users.

Popular left-wing group Occupy Democrats admitted the facts are “still unconfirmed” but urged their followers to retweet them “if you think that it sounds true!”
But you know it’s bad when even the Daily Beast not only avoids the story but runs defense for Boebert calling the account “bogus.”
I’m sorry, but the viral Lauren Boebert escort and abortions story is obviously fake. https://t.co/oS6GLbA6il

The Beast published a column noting that some very prominent liberal pundits and former politicians had aided in spreading the story and said they were being “conned.”
They note one of the pictures supposedly of Boebert has been proven to be another woman, forcing the American Muckrakers PAC website to pull the image.
“Now, if our source got it wrong or she mixed the photo up, we’ll correct it,” Wheeler told the outlet.
The group, according to the Daily Beast, has indicated they’re already pivoting away from the Boebert story, saying “we may have done everything we can do in Colorado at this point.”
Odd.
The PAC behind the Boebert escort and abortion rumors says they might decide to move on, after already pulling one bogus picture they falsely claimed showed Boebert’s sugar-baby profile: “We may have done everything we can do in Colorado at this point.” https://t.co/2MQf4hpkfH

She’s Taking Legal Action
Boebert’s attorney responded to the allegations of her being a “paid escort” and having two abortions by saying he has “irrefutable evidence that each one of these statements is patently false.”
He sent a letter to the American Muckrakers PAC which notes they published “a series of false and defamatory statements” against Boebert and accused the group of making a “costly” error.
“We have irrefutable evidence that each one of these statements is patently false. You knew this though,” the letter states.
“Muckrakers published these outlandish statements knowing they were fabricated but you likely operated under the inaccurate assumption that publishing false statements against a public figure would not create legal liability.”

Her attorney also claims they have access to “internal Muckrakers’ text and email communications” which will not only prove the allegations are false but will demonstrate they knew they were false and published them regardless.
Boebert issued her own statement regarding the ‘paid escort’ allegations.
“Partisan organizations putting out blatantly false and disgusting accusations won’t stop me from advancing freedom and conservative values,” Boebert said.
“This group’s vile conduct demonstrates why people are fed up with politics. I am not going to stand by and pretend this is normal behavior.”
Fact Check: Not true.

In an interview with the Washington Examiner Boebert called the apparent smear campaign “completely baseless and disgusting.”
“This is very damaging, and that is why I’m going after this guy personally and his group with the full force of the law,” she added. “I am not holding back, and I want to make sure that this never happens to anyone else again.”
Her lawyer indicates they aren’t just going after the PAC for “civil defamation,” but they intend to pursue “criminal” action as well.
