Avengers: Doomsday‘s newest theory states that the upcoming MCU movie has a key connection to four major Avengers: Endgame scenes that have already been explicitly teased in the setup for the 2026 film’s release. While Avengers: Doomsday is the next Avengers movie in the MCU timeline after Endgame, it’s not appeared as though the movie’s story will connect closely to its 2019 counterpart, due to how much the overarching story of the franchise has changed in the years since.
However, one fascinating Avengers: Doomsday theory that has developed as a result of the recent Doomsday teasers posits that the numbers that appear in these sequences’ final scenes – which show the Avengers: Doomsday logo, and then show a seemingly random sequence of numbers that transform into a real-time countdown to Avengers: Doomsday‘s release – actually shows a fascinating connection to Avengers: Endgame.
Avengers: Doomsday’s Ending Title Cards Have A Secret Avengers: Endgame Connection According To 1 MCU Theory
Perhaps the most interesting theory to come out of the release of the four Avengers: Doomsday teasers that we’ve gotten so far is the idea that the otherwise random-seeming sequence of numbers and letters we get before the Doomsday title card countdowns in these videos are actually timestamps for key moments in Avengers: Endgame that will be relevant for the events of Doomsday.
Eagle-eyed fans have pointed out the timestamps these would appear to connect to for Avengers: Endgame would reference the Hulk’s conversation with The Ancient One in the film – wherein he states he fears for the fates of millions – Steve Rogers talking with the Avengers in the time travel sequence that goes back to the events of The Avengers, Rocket Raccoon asking Thor if he’s crying, and Rocket offering to take his fellow heroes to space.
This theory notably has evolved into two camps, with some believing that these scenes will be directly relevant for more character-focused reasons, and some believing that it instead shows scenes wherein universe-destroying Incursions may have been made by breaking timeline rules – such as Gamora being effectively replaced by her earlier self in the timeline, or the Infinity Stones themselves being taken out of their prior places in the timeline, which may not have been fully fixed by them later being replaced.
Why The Avengers: Doomsday Theory Would Be Great For The Film
Though it’s currently unclear whether the Avengers: Doomsday theory holds true – especially there otherwise appear to be few direct story ties between Doomsday and Endgame – this concept doesn’t seem strictly impossible given the MCU and Russo brothers more specifically have provided some more mysterious or puzzle-like teases for films in the past.
Indeed, this theory being true would hold a fair few benefits for both Avengers: Doomsday and the wider MCU. For Doomsday, this would provide a more direct story link between it and Avengers: Endgame, allowing it to draw from the events of the most financially successful superhero movie of all time, and use it to set up its own story in a way that addresses complaints about less connective tissue being established for the upcoming MCU movie beforehand.
For the wider MCU, building a connection between Avengers: Endgame and Avengers: Doomsday would ensure that the gap between the two movies – in terms of their stories and in terms of the considerable time gap between the releases – is bridged in a way that makes the whole franchise feel more cohesive as a result, and makes Endgame even more engaging years down the line.
