Donald Trump has said that he will look into a potential pardon for Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, while 50 Cent has claimed that he will “reach out” to ensure it doesn’t come to fruition.
The US President said that he will “certainly look at the facts” when it comes to considering issuing a pardon for the New York rapper – who is currently on trial for federal sex trafficking and racketeering.
Rumours about presidential intervention in the case come as Trump recently pardoned rapper NBA YoungBoy, who pleaded guilty to gun charges in 2024, and excused Lil Wayne from legal charges during his first term.
Discussing a possible pardon on Friday (May 30), Trump told a press conference: “I know people are thinking about it. People have been very close to asking.”
The business mogul and the rapper were once on good terms, each describing the other as a “friend” at various points in the past. This relationship has soured in recent years, however, and Trump made reference to this in his latest comments.

“I haven’t seen him, I haven’t spoken to him in years,” he said. “He used to really like me a lot, but I think when I ran for politics that relationship busted up… I read some little bit nasty statements in the paper all of a sudden.”
Referring to a possible pardon, Trump added: “I would certainly look at the facts. If I think somebody is mistreated, whether they like me or don’t like me, it wouldn’t have any impact on me.”
Combs has pleaded not guilty to charges of sex trafficking and racketeering and has denied all other allegations of misconduct levelled against him.
He has also pleaded not guilty to five criminal counts, including racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking and transportation to engage in prostitution. He has consistently denied all allegations against him and has asserted that all sexual activity described by prosecutors was consensual.

While Trump has said that he is willing to look into the Diddy case, 50 Cent has pledged to get involved and try to prevent any pardon being issued for Diddy.
Taking to Instagram, the rapper – who has been outspoken in his dislike towards Combs throughout the years – said in a now-deleted post: “[Combs] said some really bad things about Trump, it’s not ok. I’m gonna reach out so he knows how I feel about this guy.”
He continued: “Donald doesn’t take well to disrespect, and doesn’t forget who chooses to go against him. While working tirelessly to make America great again there is no room for distraction.
“He would consider pardoning anyone who was being mistreated, not Puffy Daddy.”
50 Cent – real name Curtis James Jackson III – has been vocal about all of the allegations emerging against Diddy. Last year, he hit out at the hip-hop mogul over his apology video for allegedly attacking Cassie Ventura.
The ‘Candy Shop’ rapper also confirmed that he is working on a documentary about the allegations surrounding Diddy, titled Diddy Do It?. Details of the project were first shared in December 2023, shortly after the first wave of allegations against the hip-hop mogul came to light.
In late 2024, Netflix secured the rights to the documentary series, and the project was reportedly being expanded to include the latest developments in the legal case.
Diddy’s sex trafficking and racketeering trial started last month and has so far seen his former girlfriend Cassie Ventura testify against him in court and allege that he had spent years subjecting her to brutal sexual violence and abuse.
Since the trial kicked off, Justin Bieber has shut down rumours that he was one of Diddy’s alleged victims, and Jamie Foxx has dismissed conspiracy theories that say the rapper tried to kill him.
