Hayden Christensen comments on the rumored Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader appearance in the Rosario Dawson-led Star Wars series Ahsoka on Disney+.
Hayden Christensen responds to the reports about Darth Vader’s rumored appearance in the Ahsoka series. The actor is returning to Star Wars after almost two decades away, this time on the small screen in the Obi-Wan Kenobi show on Disney+. He will once again play Darth Vader, aka Anakin Skywalker, on the series. Christensen reunites with Ewan McGregor, who will reprise his role as the titular Jedi Master.
There’s a lot of anticipation surrounding Obi-Wan Kenobi for a few reasons, but arguably the biggest one is the confirmed rematch between Darth Vader and his former ally, friend, and Jedi Master. Beyond that, there’s no word yet on when fans will see either McGregor or Christensen again in the franchise, although there are rumors that Darth Vader will be appearing on Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni’s Ahsoka. The Rosario Dawson-led series is another Star Wars show heading to Disney+ and will focus on the fan favorite character Ahsoka Tano.
When asked about it by Capital FM while doing the press rounds for Obi-Wan Kenobi, Christensen is adamant that he doesn’t know anything about the matter. McGregor, on the other hand, remains quiet the whole time. Despite the host’s valiant attempt to get any kind of information, Christensen sticks with his claim that he is unaware of what’s going on with Ahsoka. Read his full comment below:
I don’t know, I can’t really speak to the Ahsoka series. I don’t know about that one.
Originally introduced as Anakin’s Padawan in the animated film Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Ahsoka’s story was further fleshed out in The Clone Wars series and Star Wars Rebels. But it wasn’t until The Mandalorian season 2 that she made her live-action debut with Dawson playing the character. The inaugural Disney+ Star Wars series also set the stage for Ahsoka’s story as it was revealed that she is on the hunt for Grand Admiral Thrawn. This means that the Ahsoka show takes place after the events of the original trilogy and the death of Darth Vader in Return of the Jedi. As a result, there are a couple of ways that Christensen can still be involved in the project. For starters, Ahsoka can feature flashbacks; otherwise, the former Jedi Master and Padawan could reconnect with Anakin Skywalker taking the form of a Force ghost.
The fact that Lucasfilm already had Christensen return to Star Wars makes it hard to believe that they won’t be trying to put him in more projects where a Vader or Anakin cameo can help the story. Aside from being a great act of fan service, seeing Vader – and perhaps, more importantly, Anakin – in Ahsoka can make the show better considering the pair’s history. It could also give a deeper meaning to Ahsoka and Luke Skywalker’s relationship as seen in The Book of Boba Fett. For how, though, Christensen isn’t saying anything, so fans will have to wait for a more official confirmation.
